Fairmount Innovation Lab (FIL)

Our Story

Fairmount Innovation Lab (FIL) was launched by the late Liora Beer in 2015 and is directed by Artmorpheus, Inc., a Massachusetts 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of artists in the Boston area. FIL is part of the larger Fairmount Cultural Corridor, a collaborative Placemaking initiative and partnership that draws upon local cultural assets and ethnic traditions along the Fairmount Commuter Line to support vibrant, livable neighborhoods and an active, sustainable local creative economy.

We are a unique and inclusive community resource dedicated to igniting, launching, and growing creative and social enterprises in Boston's Fairmount Indigo Corridor and surrounding areas. Through comprehensive business education and development programs, expert mentorship, access to funding resources, mental health support, and robust community building, we foster a thriving ecosystem where creativity and social impact flourish

FIL is located in the Upham’s Corner neighborhood, which anchors Boston’s new Arts and Innovation District. This Arts and Innovation District was created with the belief that sustainable income opportunities for local residents and businesses will be created by empowering the significant entrepreneurial art and creative talent that exists within the neighborhood. FIL is also part of the larger Fairmount Cultural Corridor, a collaborative Placemaking initiative and partnership that draws upon local cultural assets and ethnic traditions along the Fairmount Commuter Line to support vibrant, livable neighborhoods and an active, sustainable local creative economy.

The Upham’s Corner Arts and Innovation District is based on the belief that sustainable opportunities for local residents and businesses will be created by empowering the significant entrepreneurial talent that exists in the neighborhood. FIL was founded to respond to the income and business development gap that exists within the creative entrepreneurial community, especially among people of color residing and working in neighborhoods like Upham’s Corner. As the only organization and space of its kind in Boston, FIL provides the space, community, network and support for artists and creative businesses to thrive within their own community.
